Action Animation

1-on-1 Combat Keyframes

Contemporary Shonen anime action shot + key poses

Goal

Create a refined action animation by breaking down a one-on-one fight sequence into key poses, focusing on timing, force, and motion clarity.

First pass

Final, after 5 iterations

Process

01.

Blocking & Key
Poses

Created the first pass using Soche figures to establish the fight sequence. Focused on strong key poses, exaggerating force in punches and kicks while ensuring realistic hand and finger positions. Adjusted keyframe timing to set the animation's foundation.

02.

Refining Poses &
In-Betweens

Replaced the Soche figures with the final character designs, ensuring anatomical accuracy. Adjusted eye direction for character tracking, added in-betweens for smoother motion, and introduced motion smears (Obake) to enhance speed and impact.

03.

FX & Impact Enhancements

Integrated hit effects (FX smears, impact splashes) to reinforce weight and force. Introduced sound effects (SFX) for hits, reinforcing the weight and intensity of each impact.

04.

Camera & Cinematic Polish

Added camera movement to enhance visual storytelling. Adjusted framing and shot composition to emphasize action beats and maintain clarity throughout the sequence.

05.

Final Pass & Character Variations

Applied alternate costumes and hairstyle variations, ensuring the animation remained dynamic and visually clear. Finalized secondary motion for hair, clothing, and environmental FX for a polished, high-energy finish.

Final Sequence

This is the final refined version after 5 iterations of keyframe adjustments, motion refinements, and FX enhancements.
